Bonus Practice: An Information Diet

Okay, this one isn’t a spiritual practice per se but one that contributes greatly to reducing stress, anxiety and improving mental health. It also will give you back valuable time that you can use to incorporate some of the spiritual practices above.

If you doom scroll, zombie scroll (mindlessly scroll social media or online content with no clear purpose or direction) or watch daily news casts, consider putting yourself on an information diet.  I’m not saying you should be uniformed but just be intentional about the information you consume.  Pick information and news sources that fill your mind with uplifting, inspiring or education content.  Your mental health and attention are valuable so protect them!  Your mind is only as healthy as the information you feed it so feed it well with nutritious information that helps you be creative or motivates you.

If you find yourself constantly going down rabbit holes or scrolling and realizing hours have gone, set a timer to limit your online time.

The news cycle and social media are designed to keep you hooked on fear, negativity and outrage. Those aren’t healthy energies or headspaces to occupy so do you, your soul and your mind a favor and just cut back a little and watch some of that stress and anxiety melt away.

Embracing spiritual practices can be a powerful way to reduce stress and enhance your mental health. Whether it’s through meditation, yoga, prayer, gratitude journaling, or mindful walking, these practices offer a path to inner peace and overall wellness. Start incorporating them into your life today and experience the transformative benefits they bring.
